New Scholarship Designed to Aid BIPOC Designers

MB Scholarship - apply today

Design is all about the expression of perspective and at Relish New Brand Experience we believe a more inclusive design industry, filled with unique perspectives, elevates the entire profession.

With that goal in mind, we and six other local design firms have partnered to create the Manitoba Studio Fund – a new scholarship program developed specifically for BIPOC design students here in Manitoba.

The fund was developed to help Manitoba designers succeed in our industry who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour – communities traditionally disenfranchised from many industries, including our own.

The Manitoba Studio Fund scholarship is available to graphic design, UX/UI, and digital media design students residing in Manitoba who are attending either the University of Manitoba or Red River College, with the scholarship applied directly to the student’s tuition.

“Like so many industries, underrepresentation of BIPOC communities within design is real and we felt strongly that if it’s an issue in our industry, it’s up to us to help find solutions,” said Relish’s Suzanne Braun. “Design not only reflects society, at its best it also pushes us towards something better – and  that’s exactly what this new scholarship is designed to do.”

The Manitoba Studio Fund will award two scholarships of $2,000 a year – one to a design student at the University of Manitoba and one to a student at Red River College.

Full criteria and the program’s online application is available by clicking here and applications are due by May 1st, 2021.
